Just a short post on the opening of Uwe Rosenberg's other Essen 2013 offering as well as Through The Ages' spiritual successor, Nations, which comes in a humongous box (entirely unnecessary as we discover in a bit). A big thank you to BGC for going beyond the call of duty in ensuring I got the games, we're looking forward to giving Glass Road a run through this Sunday.
Game(s) Opened:
Glass Road
Nations
Ever since my horrifying experience with Ora Et Labora, I've been opening anything published by Z-Man Games with great trepidation. I was actually almost resigned to having another dud when I couldn't find the Buildings Board until I found it stuck to one of the Player Boards. I guess I have trust issues.
And packed! Honestly Uwe Rosenberg's game boxes can all do with slightly bigger dimensions, he really cuts it close... Or is this the publisher's doing?
Okay, having a big box makes the game look real impressive, particularly since the game is about civilization building but be decent enough to put in a nice insert rather than ship "air" to your customers. Worse still is the decision to go with Player Sheets instead of Player Boards which for the price asked is unreasonable. Why did I get it then? So sue me, Asmodee is fortunate that I'm a gullible customer.
The full extent of the goodies in the box after punching and sorting (I hope those blank cards in the bottom right are not needed)
And packed! I'll probably be throwing away the insert, I just need to find where I put my storage boxes from Daiso
The last game guilty of going the Player Sheets route was Ora Et Labora so I'm applying the same solution which is to laminate them... Tadah!
Look forward to this weekend's sessrep.
