Joyce (the Gamer’s Wife) & Louanna decided to cook dinner for both families so we had an evening to hang out at Jimmy’s place. Whilst Padawan Minigeek was watching cartoons on the television, I pulled out The Agents so Jimmy & I could do a quick 2 Player game whilst the cooking was taking place.
Game(s) Played:
The Agents
Session – The Agents
Player(s):
Jimmy
Justin
Despite the previous play with Gideon, I had to reread some of the rules due to memory loss and I realize that the rulebook is not exactly 2 Player friendly. Some of the cards’ abilities didn’t really make sense until I had a look online and found the new rulebook from the second kickstarter project of The Agents. (I seem to feel a bit cheated that a revised edition was kickstarted so soon after the first kickstarter but can’t exactly say why)
As Malaysians are wont to do, when in doubt just wing it, so that’s what we did. Although I think if we had realized that both factions in a 2 Player game belong to both Players simultaneously, the outcome would have been more disastrous on my end.
I started out giving lots of Assassins to Jimmy so I could rake in early points but Paramedics were added to both factions which kinda rendered the Assassins useless. Jimmy started using one of the agents whose abilities allow you to turn an agent (forgot the name) so I killed him/her & had to make sure the Paramedics abilities stayed facing me.
I thought I was going to run away with the win but Jimmy literally shut me down by extracting my agents with his Extractor & with the help of Mission cards took the lead & win right at the death.
Time Taken: 30 minutes
Results Of Game(s)
Winna – Jimmy (41 Points)
Dead Last – Justin (39 Points)
Rating: 8/10
I still have yet to try The Agents with more than 2 Players plus the expansions. I also find the tracking of points using cards would have been better served with a simple tracker. I can’t wait to play this again with more people.
Oh, here’s a cameo shot of Padawan Minigeek playing with the Airships from Kings of Air And Steam. I’ve taken to letting her play with some of the components from my games from time to time as the first steps of her geek training. So far it appears the dice from Seasons are the biggest hit.
